Congratulations, it’s a girl for Bachchans!

Wednesday , November 16 , 2011.

The most awaited delivery this year has taken place. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan delivered a baby girl today at Seven Hills Hospital in Marol, Mumbai.

Announcing this to the world, Abhishek Bachchan tweeted, "IT'S A GIRL!!!!!! :-)))))".
An elated Amitabh Bachchan wrote, "I AM DADA to the cutest baby girl !"
"A dada ji ... Ecstatic !!!!", Amitabh wrote on Twiter.

As soon as the news was out, Twitter has been flooded with wishes for the Bachchan family. Acknowleging the wishes, Amitabh tweeted, "thank you all ..!".

Hospital sources said the delivery was normal and came a few minutes before 10 a.m. The Bachchan and Rai families were present for the momentous occasion.

Aishwarya, 38, developed labour pains around 4 a.m. and was taken to the labour room where the delivery took place after nearly six hours.

The actress is on the fifth floor of the luxury private hospital in Andheri east.

The hospital had booked three rooms on the floor -- one for Aishwarya, the other for the Bachchan family and the third for the Rai family. The entire floor was kept out of bounds for all except the two families.

The hospital has been under tight security for the past three days in expectation of the youngest member of the Bachchan family.

Aishwarya's sister-in-law Shrima gave birth to a baby boy in the same hospital last year. Aishwarya had been visiting the hospital for regular check-ups. On Saturday, she was accompanied by husband Abhishek and sister-in-law Shweta Nanda.

Amitabh Bachchan tweeted on Tuesday: "A day of expectation .. but another day ! The Lord has his ways and they are most special .. we wait !!"

Big B had earlier tweeted: "The family gathers together from all over as we wait for the 'arrival' .. Greatest joy for me - a full house and the chahel - pahel."

It was Amitabh Bachchan, who broke the big news on the social networking site.

Recently, Big B denied rumours that said he had requested the I& B ministry to put a ban on the media from covering Aishwarya's delivery on the assumed due date. There were speculations in the media that it was Big B who had asked the ministry to issue such a diktat.

Responding to a report that said he approached the Information and Broadcasting Ministry (I&B) to ban TV channels from placing reporters and cameras outside the hospital, Bachchan tweeted: "I&B and media matter! Firstly, I have no such intention ever, secondly do you really think I&B would listen to me!?? No way baby.

Big B, who was also informed of the development through a message from a senior journalist, took to his blog to clarify that he had no role to play in moving these guidelines.

The I&B Ministry has passed an order stating that the dignity of a patient should be respected and that the placing of OB Vans outside hospitals be not allowed."

A media report said that the Broadcast Editors Association (BEA) has issued a 10-point advisory to its members on how to cover the birth of Bachchan's grandchild.

Throughout the period Aishwarya and Abhishek maintained silence. During this period, Aishwarya attended some religious functions and designer do of Sandeep Khosla and Abu jani.

There were also reports in the media that Abhishek wanted a baby girl. Well, his wish has come true.

Amitabh Bachchan tweeted, “Aishwarya is expecting”,

" It’s a November baby ": Abhishek Bachchan

Mumbai, June 28, 2011  Hindustan Times

A day after Amitabh Bachchan tweeted, “Aishwarya is expecting”, HT Café had consulted medical practitioners on the due date going by recent pictures of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The experts believed that Baby B would make an appearance close to mother Aishwarya’s birthday, November 1. related stories
Paa-to-be, Abhishek Bachchan confirms the news: “We’ve not been given a date yet, but yes, it is a November baby. That will take the number of November borns in the Bachchan family to six, starting with my grandfather Harivansh Rai Bachchan, my father-in-law Krishnakant Rai, Aishwarya, my nephew Agastya and my pet dog Shanook.”
Abhishek will not be taking any paternity leave from the shoot of Bol Bachchan, but since he will be filming in the city, he’s not unduly perturbed. “I will be with Aishwarya when she delivers. I can’t wait to hold our baby,” he beams, admitting that he’d like a daughter first, and another baby later.
“I believe in the concept of ‘Hum do hamare do’ (two for the two of us). Like my parents, I too want two kids. Right now, I’m praying for a healthy baby and if it’s a daughter, I hope she looks like her mother.” Explaining why he chose to let his father make the big announcement, Abhishek points out that it’s a family tradition, “When my mother was expecting my sister, Shweta, it was my grandfather who made the news official. So I couldn’t have taken that right away from my father.”
But now that the news is out, Abhishek says that like a tyrant producer he has sent his 68-year-old hero off to promote their movie, Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap. “Once this is over, I’ll pester him to guide me on how to become as good a father as he is,” says the actor. “Maa (Jaya Bachchan) and Aishwarya get along like a house on fire.” “She had tears in her eyes when the doctors confirmed the news. In a few weeks, I’m sure she will get cracking on what Aishwarya needs to be fed.”
Will Ash continue to work after the baby? Or will she take a sabbatical like Jaya did? “Maa didn’t stop working after Shweta was born, but after I came along, she cut down on films. Aishwarya has that choice too. No one is ever going to force her to work or quit. Penelope Cruz worked on Pirates Of The Carribean with a baby in her womb. Hundreds of women work when they are expecting and lactating. It’s my wife’s call. For now, she’s pregnant and happy,” he smiles.
He also refutes rumours that Rajkumar Santoshi was replacing Aishwarya with Preity Zinta in Ladies And Gentleman, saying that the filmmaker has decided to start the film only when Aishwarya is ready to resume. “Ladies And Gentleman will feature Aishwarya and me,” he adds.

Bookies bet on Aishwarya Rai’s delivery date!

Aishwarya Rai’s pregnancy was a national news and now as her due date approaches, the bookies are busy placing bets on the most favourable date for the delivery of the baby.
Aishwarya Rai is in the third trimester of her pregnancy and the baby is due sometime in the second week of November. Since it is the eleventh month of the eleventh year in the new millennium, bookies favour the date eleventh November. Yes, 11.11.11 is the date where a lot of people are reportedly placing their bets.
Another favourite date, we hear, is 14.11.11 which is the Children’s Day.
However, the stakes may change as November approaches as then it would be clearer when the baby is expected.
Aishwarya Rai has lately been making public appearances but has been discreetly keeping her baby bump hidden beneath layers of clothes.

" Why is Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan hiding her baby bump ? "

The stork's been rather busy these past several months. Not only in Bollywood with queen bee Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan expecting her first child with actor hubby Abhishek Bachchan, and actor Lara Dutta and tennis ace Mahesh Bhupathi expecting their first as well, but out in the West too.
Until recently new mums Mariah Carey, Victoria Beckham, Jessica Alba, Kate Hudson, et al, were seen showing off their baby bump rather proudly at various dos. Also, mums-to-be actor Jennifer Garner, singer Beyonce Knowles and France's First Lady Carla Bruni who are going all out to flaunt their curves. And so has Lara here, when she recently walked the ramp in her preg avatar.
Aishwarya on the other hand yet seems to be coy about flaunting her own bump and has been making limited appearances and that too clad in layered clothing that would keep the bump well-hidden.
Now, one wonders when is the actor ever going to make her style statement and step out in that glam avatar, trading her Anarkalis and saris for something more her haute and happening
